Iran, with an area of 1.6 million sq. km is situated between the
Caspian Sea and the tropical Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman. The altitude
at the Caspian coast is 25 meters below sea level, while countless
mountains include some 100 peaks of over 4000 meters.
Mount Damavand is Iran highest peak at 5671 meters. Most regions of the
Iranian plateau experience the four seasons, and it is not unusual to
experience a variation of up to 40 degrees Celsius in temperature
between two different locations in Iran on any given day. You can go
snow skiing at Dizin just north of Tehran on one day and go scuba diving
or water-skiing the next day at Kish or other resorts in the Gulf.
